Wool Gathering

Went to the Wool Gathering today in Yellow Springs. Lots of yummy things. Bought some yarn and notions. Got the little one an Alpaca stuffed animal. She loves it. Met a cool chick w/ a daughter that had a heart surgery scar. We started chatting b/c mine had open heart surgery at 7 months. I learned right away how lucky we are. My girl will should never have to have another surgery. She's little, but mighty and on track for 2 1/2 years old. The little one I met today was the same age, but developmentally 8 mos. old. She will have numerous more surgeries and have to have a transplant at 16 years old. Let's just say I had a big dose of reality and was very humbled and thankful today. I feel for that family and little E. I wanted to scoop her up and make it all go away.

Another day off

Okay, another day off due to Ike in Ohio. How weird is that? At this rate, I'll have my Nutkin in chocolate covered cherry socks finished and then I can get started on my Joker and the Thief socks. I'm doing those on circulars. I've never knitted socks on circulars. I liked the feel of it from what I had started before I stopped. My dear Setembrina dyed the Joker/Thief socks. They will always be known as my Twilight socks. After that, I'm starting my February Lady sweater in Dream in Color Gothic Rose. The color is absolutely gorgeous.

Ike

Ike came to SW Ohio yesterday in a pissed off mood. Apparently he didn't destroy enough homes and property in Texas so he continued on. No school today b/c power is out all over, thankfully we got ours back on. I'm getting caught up on grading papers and working on some socks. The little one and myself are both sick and she has been getting breathing treatments so it was good that I didn't have to work and that we finally got our power back. Hate to see people cleaning up and the work that will need to be done on their homes. Really hate to see what the people in Texas have had to go through. My prayers are with them - I can't imagine.
